F4SS Mission and History
The Foundation for Strategic Sourcing (F4SS) is a non-profit organization representing the secondary packaging/contract manufacturing industry with a membership of nearly 60 Consumer Packaged Goods (CPG) marketers and suppliers, which translates into approximately 1,110,000 employees and over $522,866,100 in annual sales.
F4SS was formed on five simple, yet powerful, core values that we strive to offer every member: Trust. Collaboration. Inclusion. Continuous Improvement. Openness.
The mission of the F4SS is to establish a forum whereby CPG/FMCG marketers, external manufacturers, and secondary packagers can share best practices towards the creation of Industry Standards aimed at improving efficiency and reducing supply chain costs.
The Foundation for Strategic Sourcing has a history dating back more than a decade. In 2006, a group of executives from world-recognized companies met to discuss the challenges and opportunities facing the contract manufacturing and packaging industry. The first founder’s meeting was held in October of that year in part, to draft the original Vision and Mission statements, which were used to guide F4SS for the first five years.
In February of 2007, the charter meeting was held and the Vision and Mission statements were approved. The group also made the determination to form two F4SS initiative teams: CSOP (Customer Supplier Operations Planning) and QAI (Quality Assurance. By June of that year, the foundation was incorporated in the state of New Jersey.
Today, a decade from our incorporation, F4SS has grown to more than 60 members. Our members benefits from the insight and experience obtained from a wide range of industry professionals including branded marketers, suppliers and advisory members. As market demands have changed, so has our organization, ensuring that we continue to provide the best opportunities for our members to connect, leverage knowledge and ultimately, transform their industry.
